Ball Well Played | Game 1 Recap

After a dispiriting 8-13 loss last Tuesday to Horizon Media, McCann sits at 0-1, 0.5 game behind the division leading team from Rapp, who are riding a zero-game winning streak.

McCann got off to a slow start Tuesday, digging themselves into an early hole, likely due to the team’s late arrival to the ballpark. Many suspect foul play, as the bus driver stopped at not one, but two yellow lights and did not say “you’re welcome” when one player told him “thank you” while stepping off the bus. Given McCann’s extensive payroll, many suspect they will bring in a replacement driver; possibly veteran free-agent, Ms. Frizzle.

The team from 622 Third Ave gave up 7 runs in the first 2/3 innings but, after a few early pitching changes, found their groove and began to right the ship. Hits were had, outs were made…you all know how softball works.

Rookie Abhishek Jha went 3-3 in his softball debut. However, he made a slight misstep when, after his first hit, he decided to carry his bat with him to first base. He may be hearing from the commissioner, as it is against league rules to charge a defenseless player while brandishing a weapon.

While McCann was never able to recover from the early deficit, they displayed massive amounts of potential and were clearly fan-favorites at the bar afterwards. This young team may appear bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, but they are passionate and full of raw talent.

Now McCann has a chance to get back on track and send notice to the rest of the League, as they face Rapp tomorrow evening.
