Advertising Week 360 Live Debuts with McCann Health’s Andrew Schirmer
Beneath the enormous NASDAQ sign on 43rd Street is the fish bowl ground floor NASDAQ Studio with a wall of glass windows looking out onto Times Square. On Tuesday, it was the site of the broadcast debut of Advertising Week 360 Live, a weekly series to run on the Facebook Live platform. The launch show featured a lively roundtable discussion of how businesses are impacting global changes, presented by D&AD Impact.
One of the panelists was our own Andrew Schirmer, President of McCann Global Health (MGH), a fascinating unit that is literally saving lives. One example is their development of a new global polio vaccination strategy on behalf of UNICEF, the World Health Organization and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, which has led to stunning results including in Pakistan where polio eradication has faced massive challenges.
Roundtable participants were (l to r): Evan Harvey, NASDAQ’s Head of Sustainability; Andrew; Elaine Purcell, Droga5 Strategy Director; D&AD’s global CEO, Tim Lindsay; and Eric Alt, Senior Editor of FastCo/CoCreate and Panel Moderator. Clearly the topic was one that all were passionate about - the conversation flowed freely, with smart insights and observations, including on how corporations are approaching society’s issues and needs.
Said Andrew, “Today, companies understand that making a difference on these important issues is a strategic business imperative and no longer charity or philanthropy – that is a sea change.”
