Music VR Spacial Audio Experience at McCann
Yessian Music and Sound Design visited McCann yesterday to provide McCanners with a unique VR spatial audio experience based on music. Yessian’s VR department has become one of the go-to VR audio facilities in the world, with cutting-edge audio mixing techniques. Yessian works with companies to craft specialized binaural/ambisonic sound experiences that complement the movements people make in VR. This emulates what people’s ears would perceive in the real world, following a person’s head movement to track exactly where the sound would be coming from at any given moment in the virtual environment.
McCanners were able to stop by the Atrium for a first-hand 10-minute VR experience. Once sitting, McCanners were provided with Oculus Rift goggles and headphones. Three 360 VR experiences were pre-loaded: Cisco Spark “Space Hotel”; Volvo XC60 “New Year, New Volvo”; and Ford NAIAS 2017 “Future Mobility”.
- “Space Hotel” provided the viewer with a virtual experience of what it would be like to stay in a hotel in outer space. The hotel was designed in collaboration with interior designers, scientists and astronauts to give the most realistic representations of what a vacation in space would look and feel like. To accompany the visuals, a realistic, finely detailed and immersive 360 ambisonic audio experience was created with a combination of sound design, music and the latest ambisonic mix technique.
- “New Year, New Volvo” takes you into a remote forest in Sweden to ring in the New Year with friends in a traditional Swedish manner. A Swedish poem is heard through the stereo system of the Volvo. The sound was created to make the viewer feel immersed in Swedish wilderness, with a bonfire, animals, and winds blowing.
- “Future Mobility” was created to give the viewer a virtual ride through a city to show what the future of transportation and mobility look like. A futuristic soundscape was created with sounds of Ford vehicles, energy efficient city towers and drones.
