Protesting with Love on Galentine’s Day
Sara Becker is a Senior Copywriter at McCann NY
While many people and groups have organized movements to voice opinions around social issues, I wanted to find my own way to create positive change. I love the sentiment of sending a handwritten letter to local representatives, but I wanted to put a spin on it. I wanted to protest with love.
What better way to do so than to craft protest love letters just in time for Galentine’s Day (February 13th) – a holiday dedicated to women. And so, Nasty Galentines was born.
For the past two and a half weeks, I’ve been collaborating with other creatives to build the site, NastyGalentines.com, launch a Twitter platform @NastyGalentines, do outreach on Facebook, create logos and templates, and craft and mail cards to the press. I hosted two Nasty Galentines card-crafting events where we made and mailed close to 100 Nasty Galentines to representatives. My hope was to inspire other people to share and send their own Nasty Galentines.
I invite all you nasty women to visit the site, craft your own Galentines and make your voice heard around the issues that matter most to you. If you don’t have time to craft your own, we’ve even created a few Nasty Galentine’s Day templates for you to simply download, print and mail.
Happy Galentine’s Day!
