Top Tips From #TweetToTheTop
McCanners recently attended Twitter’s #TweetToTheTop event, which featured best practices, tips and speeches from experts about how to leverage the social platform to raise your profile, further your career and integrate tweeting with other social behaviors.
Here are some top tips from the event:
· By repurposing/re-sharing LinkedIn content on Twitter, you can solicit talent or help your own career. While most people say ‘well I do that on LinkedIn, why do I need to do that on Twitter too?,’ they mentioned that the CEO of LinkedIn himself tweets very often, sharing articles about LinkedIn and even posts job openings there.
· Your tweets can create brand activations. For example, a father tweeted at Elon Musk that his 10-year old daughter Bria tweeted at Tesla to run a UGC Video Contest – and they did! Hurry, submissions are due by May 8th: https://www.tesla.com/project-loveday
· Tweets can improve both the consumer relationship with, and the experiences offered by brands and services. On Christmas Eve, Airbnb Founder Brian Chesky asked fans asking what they’d like to see from Airbnb in 2017. It sourced a lot of great ideas and he responded to almost all of them, so fans felt more connected to the brand.
· Twitter can be a unifying force! Pepsi and Coke came together to support veterans last year and it was the first time either of them mentioned the other in any consumer-facing content ever.
