Career Talk with Eric Silver on “The A-List” Podcast
Our North American Chief Creative Officer Eric Silver is interviewed on “The A-List” podcast, hosted by DiMassimo Goldstein Chief Creative Officer Tom Christmann.
Eric starts at the beginning -- with his childhood in Orange, CT and later dropping out of law school as a young adult to break into the ad business. He credits a little luck and a great team (finding his “tribe”) that landed him his first job in the industry.
Eric has had a long, storied career in advertising and he doles out some sage advice to creatives just starting out in the business. One tip: keep raising your hand, even for the most unpopular assignments. Also, do a ton of things and figure it out as you go.
Between agency gigs, Eric did a stint writing for David Letterman, which didn’t turn out to be a great fit.
Eric has held positions at many well-known agencies. Based on his experience, Tom asked him to describe what makes a good vs. a bad agency. Eric says, “When you feel comfortable with your partners and you’re free to do the right thing, I think that’s the answer.”
Eric has now been with McCann for more than two years. Within that time, has led creative on two of our most successful campaigns – the Lockheed Martin “Field Trip to Mars” and the “Fearless Girl” for State Street Global Advisors.
