Fearless Girl Makes Cannes Grand Prix History

Fearless Girl Makes Cannes Grand Prix History

McCann New York had a momentous start at the 2017 Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity this week, with three Grand Prix wins for our “Fearless Girl” installation for client State Street Global Advisors. The awards were in the categories of Outdoor, PR, and Glass, which recognizes work that addresses gender issues. The agency’s “TV Doctors of America” work for Cigna was also awarded a Gold Lion over the weekend, contributing to McCann Health being named the Cannes Lions Healthcare Network of the Year for the second year in a row.

These are McCann NY’s first-ever Grand Prix wins and a huge accomplishment for the agency. Co-Chief Creative Officers Sean Bryan and Tom Murphy, and North American Chief Creative Officer Eric Silver said in a memo to staff: “We are so incredibly proud of all the teams that poured their hearts and souls into creating this groundbreaking work. You have made McCann NY a creative powerhouse of storytelling and innovation, and we hope you feel as proud as we do.”

The “Fearless Girl” wins got plenty of press attention in outlets like Ad Age, Adweek, The Wall Street Journal and Fast Company. You can also read the full announcement from the agency here.

As the “Fearless Girl” team takes on panels, press and parties in the South of France, McCanners in NY eagerly await more great news as the week unfolds.
