McCann Summer Internship: That’s a Wrap

McCann Summer Internship: That’s a Wrap

Somehow, it’s the last week of my summer internship and I’m getting ready to leave 622 3rd Ave and head back to school for my senior year. I think every intern across McCann Worldgroup would agree the summer has flown by and we’re sad to see it end.

I came into my internship with basic knowledge of the industry and a cloud hanging over my head that told me: “I have to have it all figured out.” Over the course of 45 days, I’ve learned more about Communications and Advertising than I ever have in a classroom, written about everything from happy hour to CEOs and voice technology, drank a lot of coffee, met some of the most inspiring and driven individuals -- and learned that no one has it all figured out.

But enough about me – let’s hear what my fellow interns had to say about their experiences at McCann this summer.

What was your favorite part of the internship?

The people. Everyone is so amazing to work with and I can’t thank them enough for everything they’ve taught me in a short two months.

What is the most important lesson you’ve learned here?

Never be afraid to ask questions and never hesitate to jump into a project with others.

 Where are you headed next?

Back to school to kill the production game for my final year, thanks to everything I’ve learned over the past two months.

Who do want to thank at McCann?

Everyone I worked with, especially those that were always eager to take me under their wing and show me the ropes of production.

Waiting for iced coffee dispenser to refill. But I blame myself -- I should probably head up there earlier.

What is the most important lesson you’ve learned here?

Managing people. Everyone’s magnificent and it’s up to you to bring the best out in them.

Who do want to thank at McCann?

[Digital Learning and Development Specialist] Nura Saleh for inspiring me to always give my 100%, my supervisor [Strategist] Katie Campo for being amazing and for the tips & tricks, [Strategist] Amanda Roselli for just being so inspiring, and of course [HR reps] Daniele (Herbine) & Vanessa (Arana) for putting the internship program together.

Determined.

What was your favorite part of the internship?

Being able to experience both worlds: working with my team and other full-time employees, as well as working with the other interns on our project! The intern project included members from each department and was a great opportunity to learn how an ad campaign comes together.

What is the most important lesson you’ve learned here?

How to balance, organize and prioritize several things on your plate and to get tasks done.

Where are you headed next?

I’m a rising senior, so one more year of college left and then, “look out world!”

Who do you want to thank at McCann?

I want to thank my New Biz team for all the guidance, support and fun in making this a great summer! Also thanks to the friendly, helpful faces I encountered from my fellow interns to co-workers to HR to management. It was so nice that so many people from so many departments took the time to chat and educate me on the workings of McCann.

Well, obvious shout out to my summer boss, [Exec Music Producer] Eric Johnson but special thanks to Dan Gross – he took me under his wing right away and always took the time to explain every detail.  Yea we’re great friends, but I wouldn’t have made it without my tutor by my side 24/7. Also, [Music Associate] Sam Belkin, my consigliere with all the answers.

What do you hope people will remember you for?

My office sonos DJing.
