McCann Goes to CES
In the beginning of January, a team from McCann made their way over to Las Vegas for the annual Consumer Electronics Show (CES). CES is where 180,000+ people flock from all over the world to find out what startups and multinational tech corporations alike are brewing up with the most cutting-edge technology. Most of the technologies we saw are either new to the market, or making their way into the consumer market in the coming year. Much of the focus this year was on the integrated use of voice AI (think Google Home, Alexa, and Siri), facial recognition (used in retail transactions, for example), continued use of AR with expanded applications both within and outside the world of gaming, and modifying price points on existing technologies to make them available to more everyday consumers.
The exhibit space took up an overwhelming 2.6 million square feet in Las Vegas Convention Center, so to help our clients navigate the show floor, we hosted TechSafari Tours led by MRM//McCann’s Global Chief Strategy Officer, Ariana Stolarz; McCann Worldgroup’s Global Innovation Director, Elav Horwitz; and McCann New York’s own Director of Social and Mobile, Gemma Craven. Due to popular demand, TechSafari Tours will continue for our clients at global conventions and exhibitions like Mobile World Congress in February, and SXSW in March.
Here’s a short recap of what we saw at the show, with commentary from our amazing tour guides:
