Get a Room with Lucas Crigler and Bravo
This is so important for helping the rest of the world understand one more dimension of our lives as trans humans.
Our personal journeys toward transforming our bodies to fit our true selves can vary across the spectrum of trans-identifying folks, but one tool that many of us use to help the process along is a gym or fitness center. And, in cases where many of us haven't legally changed our name or had any surgical affirming procedures, how do we know we'll be safe to access the locker room that best fits who we truly are? Navigating a bathroom situation while being trans is hard enough... but it's a whole new ballgame when it comes to locker rooms where vulnerability is at it's highest. So, when Bravo contacted me and asked if I had any desire to be on an interior design home make-over show, I jumped at the opportunity to create a safe space where other trans/GNC/NB friends could come and workout without all the anxieties that come along with the typical public gym. At the time of the filming I had just also just moved to Brooklyn (which I knew had a large trans* community) so I felt the space would not only make us physically stronger, but emotionally as well, by bringing us all together.
