Love was in the air!
To celebrate the first annual Stonewall Day on the heels of NYC Pride Week, a team of McCanners hosted a Universal Love karaoke night at the iconic Stonewall Inn. The Greenwich Village bar has been a longstanding staple of the LGBTQ+ civil rights movement in New York, and the historic site is synonymous with acceptance and liberation.
The event centered on the Universal Love project for McCann New York client MGM Resorts. The Universal Love album, which won five Lions in Cannes, inspired the idea of replacing pronouns in popular karaoke love songs for a night of singing, celebration and pride.
McCann has always strived to help brands play meaningful roles in people’s lives, and that effort was entirely visible last night and throughout the past week of preparation.
The project touched many people, and the application was so successful that it inspired requests for more events using the Universal Love karaoke platform. It was a wonderful evening and an exciting message to be a part of spreading. Love is universal--now karaoke is, too!
