McCann Hispanic Heritage Month Portrait Series: Fatima Del Barco

Next up on our Hispanic Heritage Month spotlight is Fatima Del Barco.

What is your name and position at McCann?

Fatima Del Barco, Assistant Account Executive.

What part of the Hispanic community do you represent?

Peru

What’s one of your favorite things from the community you represent?

Without a doubt the food. And not just how unbelievably good it is (best culinary destination in the world for the 7th year in a row hellooo) but how it brings everyone together. Some of my favorite memories are in a kitchen learning how to cook from my mom or grandmother or at a dinner table two hours after the meal has ended talking with friends and family about life. Also Inca Kola is the only thing I would ever trade a Diet Coke in for.

How has your heritage shaped your perspective and influenced your work in advertising?

When I first moved to the states I tried my hardest to completely change every part of me that screamed different. Now I thank my parents every day for not letting me. Whether consciously or not, every decision I make in my day to day is influenced by my culture and heritage and I think that’s pretty special. Ultimately, we’re a stronger agency when everyone does the same.
