Create with Pride

Create with Pride

McCann volunteers, LGBTQ and allies alike, joined together last week at the Stonewall National Monument to help commemorate the 50-year anniversary of the Stonewall Riots. The McCann team planted fresh flowers and foliage in the space that once held the crowds that joined in the Stonewall Riots. As a New York space that stood and experienced a crucial part of our LGBTQ history, it was our job to give it the attention and beautification it deserved. A mix of McCann people, departments, and lifestyles all donned “Create with Pride” shirts, grabbed shovels and gloves and with good spirits joined seamlessly together to show love to the area and discuss their connections to the park, the cause, and to each other - all while spending some well needed time in the dirt. As we focused on our tasks, it was apparent in the smiles of passersby and tourists that our work was appreciated;some even stopped to ask how they could help and to offer their support of the LGBTQ movement. To perfectly cap off the afternoon, a team of strong, good-humored folks (and a quickly acquired dolly) hoisted a donated flowering Dogwood tree into its new home directly across from The Stonewall Inn, a standing symbol of the growth and beauty this community is forever capable of.
